Hi, I’m Alan Spalding and I’m the Managing Director at Elizabeth Michael Associates.

There is never a dull day doing my job which involves interacting with all the elements of the business including sales, customer service, staff development, finance, internal recruitment, HR, I.T, legal, training and whole load of other interesting daily activities.

I strongly believe that here in the UK we all have a great opportunity to do well, it's all about having some goals, a plan and then taking action.  One of the best parts of my job is helping others in our organisation to achieve their own work and personal goals.

If you need help finding the right permanent or temporary staff for your business please contact me.  I'm also always looking for experienced recruiters to work with us so please call me for a confidential chat if you are looking for a new opportunity.

In addition to my role here at EMA I am also the Managing Director of our other group company Approach Personnel, which is a multi-sector recruitment business based at the same Nottingham HQ as Elizabeth Michael Associates. For details of Approach Personnel please visit www.approachpersonnel.co.uk

Time flies quickly when you are having fun – and I must say that the experiences that I have had since I launched Elizabeth Michael way back in March 1991 have been at once challenging, exciting, occasionally nerve wracking, but always exhilarating and stretching.

I have grown as an individual and as a businessperson at the same pace as the development of the business; our fates have been interlinked for fast approching three decades and I am as totally and emotionally linked as if we were married – which in a sense we are!

John Hyde and Elizabeth Michael – the happy couple!

Elizabeth Michael is so much more than a business to me; it is the very embodiment of all that I believe that a great customer facing recruitment consultancy should be with its’ focus aimed sharply at producing outstanding quality and first rate service in the Nottingham area engendering much loyalty from our clients, temporary workers, job–seekers and of course, and very importantly, my own colleagues, many of whom have worked with me for years.

Elizabeth Michael has become a local success story – we are proud to be associated with a vast number of Nottingham’s employers, from new and emerging businesses to the very largest corporate organisations in Nottinghamshire and especially proud and privileged to be entrusted with the incredibly important task of seeking employment for people leaving education and entering the world of commerce for the first time and to supporting people as they continue their career paths and journeys.

By the way, I use the word “privilege” quite deliberately, because I believe that providing people with expert, sound career guidance and support and ultimately a new job is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling aspects of our work.

As you may have already deduced, at Elizabeth Michael we feel very passionately about our vital role in the Nottingham employment market!

And I also feel just as proud of my colleagues – the level of dedication and professionalism that they display every day never ceases to amaze me. Their sense of purpose and determination to deliver outstanding service and results for our jobseekers and employer clients ensures that Elizabeth Michael continues to grow towards our indelible goal to be regarded as the recruitment consultancy of choice for any individual or business involved in recruitment and employment in Nottingham.

There are three loves in my life – firstly and most importantly my family - my wife Jo and daughters Lucy and Livvy; secondly Elizabeth Michael of course (!), and thirdly a certain football club that I will not name for fear of alienating any potential candidate or client! (Curious? - click here)

We really strive to provide a very personal and consultative service, and I am equally keen to receive your candid feedback – so please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail: john@elizabethmichael.co.uk if I can be of assistance to you or you have any suggestions to make that will improve our service offering.

Elizabeth Michael has been “Engaging People” in Nottingham for nearly thirty years and we look forward to continuing to be viewed as “Engaging” for the next thirty!

This is not just our strap line it is also a reflection of who we believe we are and who we aim to be in the future!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website - I feel sure that you will enjoy the experience of working with Elizabeth Michael.

Hi, I’m Alex!

I moved to this beautiful city from a very small, quiet town in West Wales. When the time came for a change, an extremely big change it was!

Once I arrived here it took the path that many people take, namely starting a Temporary assignment whilst searching for my true calling. I felt that I needed a career that was challenging and rewarding, and it was during my personal job search I happened across Elizabeth Michael.

I was given the opportunity to meet John, which resulted in me being offered a position within the Permanent Division. I cannot think of anything more rewarding than helping people to find their way to an occupation that they will thrive on as much as I do.

When I’m not working, I’m running around after my gorgeous daughter, Madison. She certainly keeps me on my toes! Making memories with her is my favourite thing to do - especially the endless games of hide and seek!

Thanks for reading.

Hi,

My name’s Kelsey and I’m a consultant on our permanent team here at Elizabeth Michael.

After finishing Sixth Form I knew University wasn’t the path for me and was eager to get into the world of work and start earning some money!

I’ve always been a people person who thrives in a busy environment so decided on a job in property. After 6 years and several promotions from Apprentice through to Valuation Manager across 3 branches, it was time for a change.

With Estate Agency to Recruitment being seen as a natural career path by some, I decided to stop matching homes to buyers and start matching candidates to clients!

After nearly 3 years on a Public Sector interim desk I wanted a change and the values of Elizabeth Michael and the emphasis on the importance of honest relationships with both clients and candidates instantly resonated with me.

I love the variety commercial recruitment provides with no two days ever being the same and of course there’s no better feeling than helping someone take that next (or first!) step in their career doing something they love.

When I’m not working I enjoy holidays and road trips, chasing the sun and seeing new places. You’ll often find me at a festival or out with friends, with a drink in hand.

If you’re considering your next move, a new career, or looking for advice for your business please get in touch, I’d love to hear from you!

Hi, I'm Jess

A countryside raised girl with a love for the great outdoors and all animals.

Upon leaving sixth form, I knew university wasn't the path I wanted to go down so I got myself a job in high-end retail. Meeting and helping new customers everyday was something I really enjoyed, but after a lengthy discussion with my partner, we realised we were ready to start new careers in a new town, and we chose Nottingham.

After he quickly secured a new job, I moved with him in search of a new career for myself, first stop was the local recruitment consultancy - yes you guessed it – Elizabeth Michael.

After meeting with the consultants to discuss my ambitions and options, I was introduced to Joh Hyde, with whom I spent a couple of hours finding out about Elizabeth Michael, and John finding out about me.  I was delighted when he offered the opportunity to work as part of the Elizabeth Michael Team and instantly knew it was a company I’d love to work for.

In my spare time I love to explore the country and try new food. I have three crazy border collies that accompany me on my adventures, who also like to eat my new food!

I look forward to meeting you soon!

My name is Andy I am proud to be part of the Elizabeth Michael Team! I fell into recruitment a mere sixteen years ago and genuinely can’t imagine doing anything else!

For the last nine years I have been in education recruitment and prior to that I have worked in the commercial and industrial sectors, but I missed the pace of temporary recruitment and am delighted to be working on the Elizabeth Michael Temporary desk.

My passion has always been placing the best candidates into roles they will enjoy, I believe that not all agencies are the same and it is important for me to share the values & ethics of Elizabeth Michael. Nothing beats the buzz of placing the right candidate into the right job!

In my spare time I enjoy breeding quails, raising chickens, engraving and spending time with my beautiful two daughters and family.

If you are looking for a new role in Nottingham get in touch today and let us help!

My name is Simona and I am originally from Slovakia. My journey in the UK started many years ago when I decided to follow my dream and further my education at Oxford Brookes University.

Whilst studying for a degree ,I have been collaborating with various international luxury retail brands and had the pleasure to work on Bond Street- the UK’s most exclusive shopping destination.

I have always been surrounded by business since a very young age. The recruitment industry gave me the perfect opportunity to work in the environment I feel passionate about and help people to make the right career choices.

In my spare time I enjoy learning foreign languages, hiking and dancing bachata as I am a big fan of Latin music.

Hello I’m Hannah

I head up the fabulous Temporary Team at Elizabeth Michael.

After completing my A levels I was unsure of what career I wanted to pursue but decided to start a Marketing & Advertising course at Lincoln University, after a short time I found that the course wasn’t quite right for me and left to find my dream career (I wasn’t really sure where to find it). I started a role in Recruitment and haven’t looked back since. It is extremely satisfying, exciting and very rewarding and also allows me to talk all day which I am very good at!  I am incredibly proud to lead the Temporary Team at Elizabeth Michael.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling, long walks in the countryside, Pub lunching and spending time with my friends, family and Husband Jake.

Thank you for reading; I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

My name is Satara, and I work in the commercial temp team here at Elizabeth Michael Associates.

In 2018, I graduated from the University of Leeds with a BA in Cultural and Media Studies.  Soon after this I started working within the front of house team at an international hotel chain, and whilst I enjoyed the interaction with a wide range of clients, I didn’t really feel it was the right career for me.

I registered with Elizabeth Michael, hoping that they would help me find me the right career opportunity and much to my delight they offered me a role within their Temporary Division.  I have already learnt so much about the world of recruitment and how important it is to create long-lasting professional relationships with clients and candidates. Knowing that you’ve helped place a candidate in great job role is extremely rewarding: an aspect I find to be imperative in a perspective career. I really enjoy being part of such a collaborative and like-mind group of people here at Elizabeth Michael.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling to different parts of the world to experience a variety of different cultures. I also love engaging in socialising activities with my family and friends.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to meet you soon!

Hi!

My name is Hannah and I recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with a BA in English Literature. After three long years at University, I was ready for a change in culture and started actively seeking a job role that engaged and challenged me. I found this at Elizabeth Michael.

In my first serious role after many years in education, I have already learnt so much about the world of recruitment and how important it is to create long-lasting professional relationships with clients and candidates. Knowing that you’ve helped place a candidate in great job role is extremely rewarding: an aspect I find to be imperative in a perspective career. I really enjoy being part of such a collaborative and like-mind group of people here at Elizabeth Michael.

I’ve always loved reading critical literature and then conceptualising what I’ve learnt in posts I share on the blog I run in my spare time. I have fantastic set of family and friends; I love nothing more than socialising and spending time with them in any capacity I can.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to meet you soon!

Sally Hosken

Senior Administrator

Phone: 0115 979 9806

Hello - I’m Sally, from the beautiful county of Cornwall originally, but have not been there for some time as I lived abroad for nearly ten years, and now live here in the lovely city of Nottingham.

I have worked as part of the Elizabeth Michael Team for well over 10 years, and I have to say, it has been quite a journey!

I originally joined as part of the Marketing team and as much as I found this work rewarding, I also discovered that other aspects of the business particularly intrigued me. I found myself compelled to offer to help in administration tasks across the office, becoming involved in the advertising of roles, credit control and anything else that I could try my hand at.

Eventually, I realised that I so enjoyed this new aspect of my role that I was delighted to be offered the opportunity by our Managing Director, John Hyde, to join the Administration Team on a permanent basis. A few short years down the line, I am now heading up the Finance/Administration Department and loving every minute.

After working in the Sales and Marketing arena for more years than I care to recall, I thrive on the constant progression and demands of the role.  I have learned many things during my time at Elizabeth Michael, not just the skills and abilities necessary to efficiently run the Finance/Administration department here, but on a personal level as well.  Quite honestly, I didn’t know I was grown-up enough to shoulder the responsibility that John had trusted me with!

It’s amazing what one can achieve when a little faith has been placed in them.

When I am not at work, after a workout in the gym I like to relax with a glass of wine, play my Xbox One or PS4, go to the cinema and try local restaurants with my fiancé, Patrick.

I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Hello, I’m Sam,
I am a Nottingham girl through and through, and as they say there really is no place like home.

After leaving University, you could say I got stuck in a rut! I had no clue what to do next. From leaving school I had worked in a fashion retailer part-time basis but after University this became my full-time role and I progressed to the role of supervisor.

After a year’s supervisory experience, I felt I was ready to move on.

A friend suggested I approach Elizabeth Michael; I was invited to their offices to register where I was asked if I would be interested in working with the Elizabeth Michael team, specifically in the Administration and Support division. Following a meeting with John Hyde and Sally Hosken I was absolutely over the moon to be offered the position as this was an offer I simply could not refuse.

I am still learning something new every day and best of all no two days are the same. Looking back a few years ago a career in recruitment would not have crossed my mind – I am very happy I took the plunge!

When I'm not sleeping, or eating, I love spontaneous outings, spending time with my family, holidays and long country walks. Also, I consider myself a TV/film junkie and a huge animal lover.

Thank you for reading, I look forward to helping you.
